I wrote this one in Nashville, in my 20’s. Now I’m old enough to be the character in the song – had to change one lyric from a blood red mustang circa 1993 to 2003 – and now people plug their cell-phones into cigarette lighter trays instead of cd players but whatever.
Brandon Comstock changed this song by improvising a riff in the studio that I liked so much not only did I get rid of my vocals over that section – I copped it for the beginning of the outro guitar solo. This solo has my favorite sound I’ve ever achieved on electric guitar – playing an SG through a 5 Watt Marshall combo pinned to 10.
